Winter Hats, Gloves and Coats Needed

As fall turns to winter, we have another opportunity to help the homeless in our community. Please consider donating adult knit hats, gloves and winter coats. All items may be new or gently used and must be washable. There are boxes located in the Church entrance and parish hall.

Feed the hungry

Volunteers are needed on the fourth Wednesday of each month to make 60 sandwiches for the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury. We meet in our parish hall to assemble the sandwiches and deliver them to Dorothy Day, which is only 10 minutes away from our parish. Or you may organize your own Tuesday meeting and leave the sandwiches in the refrigerator and they will be delivered the next day. A detailed shopping list and instructions will be supplied.

Dorothy Day Hospitality House has been feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless in the Danbury CT area since 1982. Volunteers cook and serve hot meals daily to their guests. They also hand out "Grab and Go" bags that contain hot food, a sandwich, a bottle of water, a piece of fruit, chips and cookies. They also deliver 60 lunches daily to the Super 8 shelter which contain two sandwiches per bag.  That means they need over 1500 sandwiches each week!

Thank you to those who have already stepped up to shop, make sandwiches and deliver! Please continue to volunteer so that we can meet the needs of the homeless in our community as fall turns to winter. Volunteer once or often! Please contact: to lend a helping hand to those in need.

"People say, what is the sense of our small effort? They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of our thoughts, words and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do."
